Am I allowed to feel this low
When I haven’t seen the world implode
But I still feel it all in my bones
Everytime I accept defeat
I’m just a small town girl tryna live out her fantasies
Patience written on my face
Still I’m struggling to keep up with the pace
So why do I even try
Should I just accept defeat
But somehow I’m still kneeling into conceit
Hold on to the reason that you stay
We’re still picking up from yesterday
Hold on to the chase I’m runnin late
Said I’ll meet you at a different place
Unshakable desires so innate
So I made a list
Of the things I grew to hate
But will I ever learn
Does it hurt to never change
I’ve crossed out pages
But I’m still afraid
There’s something about you I just can’t understand
Is it weird though I try to I could never forget
Does it make it any easier for us to pretend
Is it weird though I want to I could never

Alvvays has always been great, but with this album they took it to the next level. Every one of these songs is lodged in my brain now, permanently (in a good way). s. moxley

I think it's difficult to write songs about something other than romantic love, and still be able to communicate the intensity with which those feelings can hit a person. Some of the entries on this album are fantastic examples of this niche. dani_bloop
Market, from Melbourne, fuse soul and chillwave on a wonderfully woozy song with rubbery guitars & breathy harmonies. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 19, 2020
On their latest LP, the Austin group peel away the synth and distortion to highlight the jangly melodies at the core of their songs. Bandcamp Album of the Day Mar 9, 2022
An easy-to-love combination of emo and jangle pop, the first full album from Spirit Night in eight years feels bathed in a golden glow. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 8, 2023
